The director-general for the European Commission’s Enterprise and Industry Directorate recently stated that within Europe we are losing a generation of potential entrepreneurs. Crespo highlighted statistics stating that the percentage of young entrepreneurs in the US is much higher than that in the EU.
Following this there were calls for a Europe wide strategy to encourage entrepreneurs. What is needed is a plan to counter the growing pessimism in the EU for small businesses which prevents people from taking the risk, and prevents young people from starting a business.
